Grapes are highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations and require immediate cooling after harvest to maintain freshness, firmness, and shelf life. Understanding this critical requirement, the facility was strategically developed with an integrated packhouse and pre-cooling system, followed by a high-performance cold storage unit with a total capacity of 500 MT.

The structure was built using advanced PUF (Polyurethane Foam) Panels, known for their superior thermal insulation properties. These panels create an airtight and energy-efficient storage envelope, minimizing heat ingress and maintaining stable internal temperatures. By reducing temperature variations, the facility effectively protects the grapes from moisture loss, spoilage, and quality degradation during storage and handling.

The pre-cooling system plays a vital role in rapidly removing field heat immediately after harvesting, ensuring that the produce enters cold storage under controlled conditions. This process significantly extends the shelf life of grapes and helps maintain export-quality standards.

Energy efficiency and durability were key priorities in the project. The PUF panel construction ensures lower refrigeration load, reduced power consumption, and long-term structural reliability. The modular design also allows for streamlined installation and easy maintenance, making the facility both operationally efficient and economically sustainable.

With this project at Kalas, Indapur, Elements has reinforced its expertise in delivering end-to-end cold chain infrastructure solutions tailored for the agriculture and food processing sector. The Topsoil Foods facility stands as a testament to our commitment to quality, performance, and innovation in temperature-controlled environments—supporting farmers, exporters, and the broader agri-supply chain with dependable cold storage solutions.
